i.ve just watched vray´s sigraph presentation:

http://www.cgarchitect.com/news/SIGGRAP ... -GPU.shtml

This gpu rendering rocks! so... vray users have this new acceleration, fry render users have random control, will we get something similar in maxwel????

impressive, thanks for the info ! does vray runs on linux or it is still very max/windows related?

maxwell has not the same objectives than vray, let it time to mature ! If voxelisation could be preprocessed for a scene independantly from the point of view maybe it will be possible in future.. but i dont think this can happen soon.. chi va piano va sano

Finalrender R3 already has it's own hardware render (used on 2012 film) and mental images works in "Iray" (GPU based path tracing)

Well, when there's SO MUCH power out there, it would be a sin not to use it.
It really looks like 2010 is going to be a GPU year, since EVERYONE around is going GPU way. Even Firefox 3.7 is going to support it.
I really, really hope that NextLimit is working on something gpu-based, otherwise we're doomed. :(

PS: I was planning a major PC upgrade for years and now was only awaiting for i7-930 in Feb.
But had to halt the whole upgrade thing because of all those GPU news. I'm really confused now :?

And the licensing per core ??? :) How's that gonna work ... ? Should be interesting !

Poor Intel, .. and they were just beginning to enjoy world domination(right behind Google) So can we all just go back to fast dual-cores ? lol..
