Hi everyone- I have some renders that I would like to be able to enlarge slightly without decreasing the quality of the image. Do you guys know of any programs out there that would do such a thing? THANKS!!!!

As I know,
Alienskin's Blowup
Onone's Genuine Fractal
are image enlargement plugins for photoshop.
but if you wanna enlarge without additional tools, just map to plane and render bigger.
at any case, there is no way to maintain 100% quality of original.

I use Alien´s BlowUp.
But it has limits and sometimes you´r loosing hard edges.
If you want to go from 1000px to 2000px i won´t recommend it. But when rendering at 3 or 4k horizontal, you can push it up by 70 - 80% and obtain a good result.
Anyway - after applying BlowUp i always work with some other filters to "touch-up" the fractal structures that you can see in fine details.

I mean Just map your rendered image to a plane and render it bigger with basic renderer (not maxwell, just like a scanline render of max).
Or if you have already sufficient big size render but wanna a bit larger size, just resize it in photoshop.

Photoshop was the answer.

yes, ps works good if you don't go too far.
you could convert the image to 16bit (if it isn't already in 16bit) and resize in 10% steps. 50% blowup should be possible.
a ps action can be easily recorded. so it's a one button solution too.

Sorry, correct that .... Yeah, I remember Tom had some superior results, ..I thought it was PS, but he used IfranView.
ps. Thanks for digging the thread out.
There you go Cary ... all you'd ever want to know about upsizing images.

give this a go:

a buddy of mine just sent the link along after seeming quite impressed..... although he is labelled "I.T. guy" so I'd be interested to hear an artist's perspective on it..... i'm just too darn lazy to install and try.

here is the result using photozoom and photoshop (16bit image upsized in 10% steps)
photozoom 4892pix
photoshop - image converted to 16bit, upsized in 10% steps to 4892pix

IMHO, the answer is absolutely > Irfanview
1) Freeware
2) BSpline filter does the best for this purpose and it's real fast.
It's OK BSpline is slightly blurrier comparing to the rest but it's quite free of artifacts. Lanczos is just better but it amplifies the noise, too. As these are for printing and viewing from a distance I strongly suggest Irfanview's BSpline. Free, smooth and fast without amplifying the grain and artifacts.

here's example using the app i posted above. Noisier than tom's irfanview test, but it's a one click and you're done job. Enlarged to 5K. quite fast as well.

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been using Gimp not Photoshop so will try the 16 bit and then resize in 10% step. I don't have to go up that much so that might do the trick. In the meantime I am going to check out all the links you guys provided, thanks so much

$3 to resize the strawberries to 6K looks like the most expensive solution here ...

..kinda funny.
That's 0.000133333 pennies per pixel.
