As a spinoff, I realized that if I replaced the random noise with a grayscale mosaic, and hand drawn tiles, I could make a portrait in something resembling Polynesian tapa cloth

When you view the whole thing small, it tends to just look like computer ascii art. [NSFW 18+ ?]

Thought you might be interested, anyway.

Here it is as a Maya shader. In CG I think the term for it is 'texture bombing'
