Fake DOF using Photoshop

I know, obvious, right? But I was pleasantly surprised to see how Photoshop handles blurring through alpha vs blurring with layer masks.

Actually I thought Photoshop was now ramping up parameters in all the filters based on alpha.

Apparently they still don't. Lens blur is a special case.

Actually some filters, like Ocean Ripple, do not ramp up, while others, like Ripple, do ramp up their strength based on alpha.

What a mess.

The lens blur from photoshop (combined with the depth channel) is not bad either, imho

DofPro uses aperture maps like Maxwell, kinda interesting.
