I don't think so!
It looks like a challenge that Maxwell would excel at. I hope I have time to try it! Can anyone say d-i-s-p-e-r-s-i-o-n?

I just have to say that the overall quality of the selected submissions for these lighting challenges has really gotten to be top notch.
Where are people finding all the time ???
Maxwell or not, .. I think the competition will be pretty steep. Still, ...it'd be nice to see some MW's in the final gallery.
Do it Bubba !

Represent.

Okay ... curiosity got the best of me and I DL'ed the scene.
Straight out of Rhino unadulterated to Maxwell ..... looks smooth, ...but it'll probably need some work once you break out the shiny metals.
Anyway, ... those are default colors and that's my submission. Hope I win.

I tried.

Not to be snarky but the models don't look like they will render naturally- no fillets, incorrect proportions for gemstones etc... is it just me? If I was to render this to look photo-real I would have to remodel quite a bit of the scene. I would love to give it a go but ........
Ivox- what file did you use to get it into Rhino?

Cary, you're correct about the scene modelling. It's definitely not modelled for Maxwell. Here is what I've done so far. I am using full ior's for the gold, silver and jewels. I had to remake the coins, the topology wasn't good for displacement. Anyway, much more to do. I'm not promising to finish this...

A little material test:
I found out that the gems that are missing on this ring aren't
supposed to be missing. It is an apparent error in the 3ds file.

I think I'll leave it like that though, I dunno...

Hey Bubbaloo- Do you want me to email you some gem models from Rhino? They would have better proportions than those and would therefore show more brilliance and dispersion.
