Until I gather the funds for an L lens, what would you recommend for a wide angle lens (15-24mm), for a Canon? Can be a zoom lens as well.

I personally use SIGMA 10-20 / 4-5.6 EX DC with my Sony Alpha 300. They are made also for Canon. Very satisfied so far.

I can recommend the EF-S 10-22mm which is rather expensive, but a light lens with a good range and quality. I used it since over 2 years now and it became my main lense, especially when photographing architecture.

The 10-22 looks very good but yes it is pricey. From dpreview I noticed the Tokina 12-24 looks good, also looked at other reviews and decided on it.
