Illustrator + Tablet: Handwriting

Hej hej!

I have a Wacom Intuos3 that I have troubles using efficiently in Illustrator. Suppose I use it to capture handwriting: when I write the letter 'T', upon drawing the second stroke, Illustrator will assume it actually belongs to the first downwards stroke, and join both to form an 'r' shape. This has been driving me nuts, and I'm sure there must be a simply switch somewhere to prevent this from happening, right? There must be!

Ok, I have now finally found out: Double-click the brush icon, then in the properties window de-select "keep selected" (oh, the irony!) or "edit selected paths".
