I have tried blender on several occasions in the past, but never figured out the UI, hope that that will change for the better. It sure looks like a great alternative to commercial applications.

I've tried it. It didn't take.

Agreed, hoping the UI is much much improved on this version. I really want to love Blender.

It might fit better in my mind with the new interface:

http://download.blender.org/documentati ... ers_ui.pdf

It will probably make it more understandable at first glance.

Very good paper, if they make it come true for 2.5, it'll be a great step forward and solve the current learning curve (no Bubba, i don't think you're dumb) problem.

The proposals are some of the best looking UI i've seen.

Wow, good paper.

Their new UI looks like a MODO's. ah?

funny you mention Modo, here is a thread @ Modo forum Topic - Apparently modo's interface is a rip-off of Blender http://forums.luxology.com/discussion/t ... 005&page=2
William Reynish the author of The Evolution of Blenders User Interface paper takes part on the discussion.

Anyhow I hope it works out for them blender is a good product, I personally don't use it and I think UI is one of the reasons I never spent more than 30 min on it.
