I've been using it all day and I have to say it's fast. It also "feels" tight...

There were a couple of drivers needed and it went out and found the itself...

Installed very quickly without a hiccup...

So far I've installed Solidworks 2006, Solidworks 2007, Camnetics GearTrax and MS Office. I'll be installing Maxwell this afternoon.

I have the Nvidia Quadro FX 4500 video card. I installed the driver for Vista and the screen actually said "Windows 7"; don't know if that is just pulled from somewhere or it is a real driver for the card.

So far everything has installed perfectly. There is a compatibility routine that runs for whatever is being installed but I haven't found that I need it yet.

I have to say, so far it is very "peppy" and feels really good. Then again (ready... wait for it)... I run Vista on my laptop and another machine and have never had it crash or cause the problems being carry on about. Maybe I'm just lucky...

Upgrade from Solidworks 2007 SP0 to SP3.1 failed. This means I couldn't install the SW plugin for MR. Maxwell Studio runs fine.

Did install it on top of your existing version or did you install it in a clean hard drive? can you make a double boot installation?
thanks

Yes, either install it on a separate hard drive or create a partition for it (just make sure you don't nuke any data in the process!).

Here is a good guide to installation with links to additional info:

I made a "tri-boot"; XP Pro, Vista and Win 7 on the same drive. Use Vista Boot Pro for an easy way to manage the boot. You can have as many OS on the same drive as you want if you have partitions for them.

Installed Windows 7 on my HP laptop (put in a new drive and left the old one as is). Digging it so far...

Have somebody figured how to get rid of address bar and search thing in every explorer window? I'm also willing trying to get rid of wide start menu and instead use the old classic look but I can't see an option. I cannot understand why they don't allow customizing some parts of their world beauty(!) interface.

That's right; it's gone. As I understand it there are no "references" back to XP. It's Vista from now on.

I'm using it now on my laptop and it is MUCH faster that either XP or Vista. Should be interesting when the final version is out.

You can go to the microsoft download page and go through the motions until you get to a page that gives you a product key and then print it out.
