that's me in 2005 .. working out hard 3 times a week ..
http://www.deadalvs.meinbild.ch/

i didn't have that much time since then but my good form's coming again ..

* * *

yes, it's worth it, but you gotta stick to the plan.

what you don't see obviously when you want to pay the program that you can buy supplement pulver food, vitamins, a pull-up bar and those rubber-bands at checkout time. this is where they earn their money.

i could not use the pullup bar that i bought cos we have much thicker walls here in europe and not two-inch wooden walls where that pullup-bar fits perfectly. also the bands can be left alone if you buy dumbbells.

there comes a thick book with the food plan, but there's so much fish in it i cannot stick to the plan. i eat a lot of pasta, veggies, rice, meat and low-fat other stuff (like christmas-cookies).

the second and third day were a horror cos of sore muscles. getting up from bed took be 1 minute, getting up from the floor 1.5 minutes.. :)

but now, after a few cycles i have to say it's a great training. you just gotta stick to the plan and «bring it». there's everything: 100+ pushups, 100+ pullups (if you can), kenpo (kicking), jumping, yoga (very cool, but hard !) and stretching. everyday something else.

and Tony's jokes are still funny after the fifth time. that's worth a lot for longtime-motivation !!!

* * *

the only bad part is that you spend much money on things like dumbbells or that yoga mat and supplemental food powder, but at least the physical stuff like those little push-up bars you can keep your life long.

i can really recommend it. i've trained hard in a doctor-led studio with totally professional people so i was a little afraid that other programmes may have a negative impact on my body, but it all just makes sense, the whole package.

try it !

It is my personal experience that it is best to join a gym, preferably with a workout partner. Here are the reasons:
1. A partner, or even strangers in the gym working out at the same time as you creates a competitive drive that is very difficult to achieve at home.
2. Gyms offer thousands of dollars of equipment that many varying exercises can be performed on. These varying movements are what keeps your body growing and keeps your mind from becoming bored or burnt out.
3. Every piece of home gym equipment that I, or anyone I know of, has ever purchased ends up collecting dust in a closet or in the trash after a short time. The human body and mind is not made to perform intense repetitive tasks over long periods of time.

These are just my opinions based on personal experience. I have been attending a gym in my home town for about a year (3 days a week) and have went from 165 pounds to 215 pounds in that time.

As far as diet is concerned, the phrase "everything in moderation" applies. There is no magic solution for everyone. Eat healthy, varied food, even enjoying snacks occasionally, and get exercise. That's it. :wink: No big secrets.

Was I into this when I was young?
Yes I was...
Why?
To look special, to be special, mostly for my ego, but mainly to get laid...
Did it work?
Not really...
What does?
An older man told me this years ago.
To be happy, be friendly and helpful, think of others before yourself...
Eat good food when you are hungry, sleep when you are tired, no matter what time it is. Be active, walk, run, play sports, learn to dance, I mean really dance like Zorba the Greek. Everything else will fall into place.
When you get old pass this on when you get a chance.

Cheers, Ron

Haha, that is good advice.

When I was younger that would have been my motivation. Now in my mid 30's, I want to do all I can to make sure I am around when my children (insert event). :)

i agree that working out in a studio with other people gives best results. but best with strangers, listening to your own music.

though studios sometimes are far away and close earlier than one can manage to go cos of late work and so on. so having an option to work out a little at home surely is a good option.

meeting friends just tends to make breaks too long.

me personally i have no problem with training just for myself. i can motivate myself pretty good.

* * *

most important of all is that one does a little sport all life long. best with walks outside in the (hopefully still) green fields like around here.

i'm up for the next session !

... well at least I do what they call "nordic walking.." not intense as your training... but cool.. 8)

well, nordic walking's cool too !

i remember times when i was about 12 and stayed at my grandparent's, we used to go walk with the dog. i was so tired after an hour's worth of walking and for them this was totally normal. after a week i was at their speed ..

well, i was growing fast then and hungry all the time too, so there was no energy left for walking.. :)

* * *

my granddad's definition of a «walk»

german: «das abschreiten einer strecke, an derer ende sich ein wirtshaus befindet»

«walking a certain distance at which's end there's a restaurant/café»

:)

I want to do the P90x!! :D

I like the fact that it's like 90 days and not a undefined amount of time :lol: . If it works great!.. if it doesn't, well, it was just 90 days :lol:

I was already used to studying from 5pm to 11pm every weekday for my exams, I think I could manage a little more exercise with all the free time that I have now.

BTW
How does it work if you have a other exercise schedules like Tae Kwon Do twice a week?
I'm also planning to go back and start taking some tango lessons again with my wife :D
