I got the following project post drop into my inbox today. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL LOL LOL LOL

"We want to have a 3D motion video illustrating a lay-out for a holiday resort.

Project Type : Fixed Price Project
1. The project will be laid on a 40 acre land
2. A construction ( Hotel building) strategically located on site will have to be the main attraction with about 50 executive suites
3. Currently the land has huge trees intentially preseved for this project
4. There will be 10 man made fish ponds for lleisure fishing as an enjoyment
5. Tarmaced tracks cris crossing well netted in the land to allow horse riding, quid biking and other leisure actvities.
6. Well built state of the art swimming pool.
7. Around the land design a murram road to allow village path horse riding.
8. Finally we would like to have this video move at our initiative ( not automated) with every detail including your added ideas seable to the last detail.

Budget Range : Less than £250"

He's made my day, I haven't had a good laugh like that for quite a while.

Bwhaha! :D he won't get much done for £250, you should tell him the story of how much he will actually get for those pocket pennies he's offering. :)

He'll get something like a box on a plane where the plane is the 40 acre land and the box represents the hotel.

You should post his e-mail so we can let him know what we think about his offer.

Clearly he's not sourced any 3d before, but I'm just fascinated as to how one would come up with such a figure? bloody bizarre.

Does he live in a freekin' cave?

Oooh, careful, you don't want to offend this guy - he's such a big shot that he's taken up the habit of excluding the first three figures on financial numbers...I'm thinking you stand to lose a cool quarter-mil here.

On second thought, nope...someone like that would also have an army of secretaries, at least one of which might actually know how to spell.

tell him that his budget of £2,500 for an animation is not realistic. But that you will more than glad do some some renderings (2-3) for that amount (£2,500)

You can do it for 250.... Just use boxes for everything. Maybe give some colour to the boxes too, depending on the averge colour of the object. Trees could be green boxes, ponds could be blue planes, etc. Render it at 250x250 and 5 fps. That should fit the bill.

Maybe those guys from "I render for food" could give it a try.

Hilarious!

This doesn't only happen in your field. Someone once asked me to edit a 200 page typoscript for ... € 500. In a week.

ahhh yes. the coveted douche bag email.

developers are notoriously cheap. Not to mention shady.

i have a few of these tucked away in some corner of outlook
and strangely enough, my prize winner shares the same numerically
listed point system....
