The Harrier is nice indeed ! ... but it is also very old (almost 30 years ? I think). The F-35 is the latest in VTOL, even though it seems to be based on the YAK-141, the F-35 just came out this year. I suspect it is even smoother than a Harrier in terms of control.

Also the F-35 is supersonic (mach 1.6), while the Harrier is not.

Much older...

First vertical takeoff was on 21 October 1960...

I also do like F35. Especially the first link you posted is amazing. But from my point of view it is more airplane simulator than aircraft with all those electronics controls in it.

It is like today's Formula 1...
