hey !

i've been doing «canyoning» this weekend. it's in the canton «tessin», a southern part of switzerland. the river and valley is called «verzasca». that's a little above where 007 jumped off the dam.

we were a group of 6 people and 3 guides.. it's been COLD, but worth it !

Hey Deadalvs,

A few years ago I was in the Middle of France (Massif Central) for an active vacation. One of the things we did there was canyoning.
It's very cool indeed (including the water) and absolutely worth it.

i guess there's not many options for canyoning in the netherlands ..

well.. it's been the first time for me to jump from 10 meters. we had about three of them in our 4 hour tour. well.. even though you're «protected» it's still dangerous every time you jump between rocks. especially distances or the slippyness of the base rock you jump off.

the first jump was tough. i didn't jump far enough so i was a little too close at the wall. i landed correctly and stopped okay, i just hit my elbow somewhere on the right side under water in some depth. but i was LUCKY. through the suit i still had a little gash, but could easily have crushed it...

Hahahaha, in Holland it's indeed very difficult to find a place where you can walk in a canyon

For that kind of sports, we go to our neihbour-countries. 2 weekends ago we had a weekend survival in the Ardennen (Belgium), that was very cool to. Only a pity that we had a lot of rain, what is not very comfortable when you sleep in a little tent

It can be dangerous indeed. I remember that I abseiling from a waterfall that was very slippy. I slipped away and crushed agains the rock. Fortunately I had no injuries.

There also are a lt of stories of people who where surprised by fast raising water. That can be very dangerous in those canyons.
