question for modo users

I've come across a modo/maxwell problem that i've not seen before. I've been sub-d modelling cogs for a clockwork style image and wanted to do a quick test render in maxwell. So i froze the geometry, triangulated it & exported it to .obj format as i usually do for maxwell renders.

Now, the geometry imports fine in to maxwell & can be exported back out of maxwell as .obj but every time i try to save off the mxs i get an error message saying it cannot save the .mxs file (no other info) Also if i hit render it fails with the same error.

Has anyone else had this problem?

thanks,

Never had such an error. Have you tried deleting the mesh/object in MXST and safe then? Maybe it's not the mesh that causes the problem.

Does the object have any strange characters in it? Try perhaps renaming it and save it.

Thanks for the suggestions, ...it seems to be something quirky with the geometry & i can randomly repeat it with similar models - but i have managed to get a few out that work so i guess i'll just re-do it all and check it at regular intervals in maxwell to see where the problems occur.

thanks again.
