It's pretty nice, i played a bit with the trial and it's quite smooth except that the AO shading looks horrible :/ and i tried how many polys my rig could handle with it and i got up to 32 million.
It's just a shame that Autodesk has put a way to high price on it

and even the upgrade price is horrible.

They raise the price to make it worth the time of their re-sellers. After they bought Alias, I tried to but a copy of Sketchbook Pro, but I couldn't get any answers from our reseller who finally admitted that it wasn't worth their time to sell such low cost software. So Autodesk is pushing prices up just to feed their reseller chain. The resellers are helpful on some stuff, but Autodesk's software range has gotten a bit to broad for such a narrow business model.

I wish they would integrate it into Max.

Then your Max subscription price would go up 500 bucks....why not just buy it separately?

Well, I was hoping to avoid that...

I appreciate what deflix posted regarding Autodesk on another thread, I edited to shorten:
"The main problem with max is Autodesk who are the software equivalent to Enron. They will fleece you for every penny in your pocket, provide no free support and expect you to continuously pay for meaningless upgrades which are not backward compatible. Please under no circumstances use Autodesk's products wherever possible.....consider that a friendly warning!"
Well said...

The title says "New Mudbox is out...", it's not "New Mudbox is out!".

I know after my last post it's going to seem like I am doing some nit picking on Autodesk...But...I went over to take a look at some of the Mudbox 2009 preview movies. The guy that does the demo's has several phrases that he uses incessantly through out the demos, often back to back. He started to get on my nerves about half way into the first one and by the third I wasn't even paying attention to the demo but was counting how many times he used:
"go ahead and..."
"and actually..."
"I'm just going to..."
"let's jump..."
"and maybe..."
I finally turned off the sound and just watched the videos.
The new Mudbox looks good...
