Did you watch the videos? Vue now comes integrated straight into max. Everything you need is in max.

Your best method is to composite Vue and Maxwell Render images together.

I have no idea how this is possible.... But even if this can happen, then the quality difference would be obvious..

1)
does anyone know if the vue 7 will have complete functionality also inside maya ? or does it all work complete just inside max ?

2)
what does ozone 4 do if there's the full vue functionality available in the host 3d apps ?

?

I've never used Vue, but that video was impressive. Might have to look into it further.

Hey Leonardo,

Would you mind giving a quick description of how you get plants out of Vue?
I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks much,
Ron

i've had an educational version of vue 4 and i've known it a little longer when bryce was still number one.

but now in 7 it'd be the first time with the full functionality inside maya with the co-rendering vue/mental ray.
i never really liked the workflow and scale precision and import/export need for richer scenes just in vue.

now i'll have full maya modeling precision with full vegetation... i am so thinking of getting the xstream package as a full license !

@ RonB
exporting plants can be done in the plant editor when i remember. or in the normal perspective view select the plant and then under file/export you can put in the number of polys and the resolution of the maps.

Check this out (since you talk about Max) and compare the price with Vue 6

i've seen that chart ... it's from the e-on newsletter. i get that one too.

yes, i've noticed that the prices went up compared to vue 6 xStream... but there's also the options for small studios with the cheaper versions. of course no host-3d app exchange for anything else than the big purse .. :(

or what do you mean ?

( but those thoughts were the reason why i ask. i want to be sure 100% that i can use everything of vue 7 directly inside maya.)

hi ron,

the other day i installed the Vue6 ple.. (very cool ple! as you can export)

so as much as i played around it is very simple, just add plant/tree and export directly from the object settings tab (export plant button), or select the object > file > export!

obj,lwo,3ds support exporting with textures(color/bump/alpha). "add smoothing faces" makes leaves & co become subdivided and curved instead of single faced.

hope this helps,

:p

*deadalvs already answered.. missed that.

Hey thanks for the reply polynurb and deadalvs...

I don't have a copy of Vue but a buddy of mine does and I am trying to get him to send me mountains, plants etc that I can use in Lightwave.

Cheers,
Ron
