Interesting. Even though odd special features like HD Video usually shouldn't be the decisive factor for a photo camera, it might actually be something to consider for someone who's got use for either. Video cameras with a lens mount run for at least the same price i think, here you'd get two in one. Question is how ergonomic filming with that turns out to be.

I'm currently favoring the Canon 450D as my first DSLR.

sorry to hijack the thread - but you obviously know your DSLRs

I'm looking to get a DSLR for general wildlife photography in India - therefore no shutter lag. It would need to be light and portable and pretty tough.

What your opinion on the new Olympus e420 or 520 ranges? The blurb mentions their lens format is designed from the ground up to utilize digital light sensors. Is this a just marketing ?

I called my mom (she has a photography company) and she now wants it

I think the video feature is incredible, because we have so many good lenses from fish eye to telephoto that I don't think any video camera for $1000 could equal. You could macro videos at 720p

I was wondering about the auto focus and videos... because some lenses are much faster than other lenses until I saw this
*As of August 27, 2008, according to research conducted by Nikon Corporation
Note: Autofocus and some other functions are not available when recording movies.
that could be a deal breaker..

but shooting at 3,200 ISO with low noise is a good thing :D
As of right now our Cannon 20D get the job done right a low lighting
