There's just something about playing a guitar that doesn't make it look like you're trying to compensate for something... like skill.

lol. In Prince's case, the compensation theory certainly seems plausible. He ain't the genius he used to be.

Ah ... Bill Hicks. Wish he was still around.

I think you guys are missing the point... this doesn't have anything to do "over-compensating" or "being caught dead playing the thing"... maybe a little background would have helped things a bit.
This comes out of ESP's custom shop. It's an example of the imagination, art and craftmanship of these guys. It was never meant to be played (actually - never sold either. If it would go up for sale guesses are about $20,000.)
If I were going to pay to have someone build a custom guitar for me I would want to know that they are capable of doing extreme, immaculate work.
BTW; I own an original Ovation (no electronics), Les Paul, Strat, Fretless Strat and a Schecter Guitar Research. My next is PRS.

Well, I don't play guitar, so I should have told you not to take anything I say seriously

I understand what you mean, in fact I loved the idea of Giger's Mic stand for Korn's singer... just not Korn's music. Crazy looking guitar nonetheless.
