I am not sure about this one. The really odd thing is that no matter what the model helicopter does, the camera just always has it in the frame, it never loses the copter.

For the kind of aerobatics that this thing does, it seems almost superhuman controlled use of the handycam. I would almost guess it is compositing and all very much rendered including the ground shadows.

If that model copter had at least flew out of range of the handycam camera frame once, it might be more realistic.

If it is real, it is really a feat of engineering.

It sure does look very CG (the physics and excellent camera tracking) but RC helicopters can actually do that. The engine inertia mixed with quick blade adjustment makes for one hell of a punch.

Guys, don't be so quick to call fake.

I've got one of those and I can say I have never seen noboy controlling as this guy ....for me it was almost imposible to make it fly until the 4th day trying , of course the 3 days before cost me about the price of 2 helicopters

Even having the thought of this as being fake just smacks of someone doing way too much CG. First off, ..this guy is a total known legend in RC. Secondly, ... watch the video again and just try to imagine charting all the motion, changes in speed, crazy warped helixes etc.. etc.. with physical correctness in CG -- it'd take you 20 years and not to mention the actual rendering. Get away from the pc and go outside.

From what I've seen Iker, ... your doing pretty good.
No doubt that the RC helicopter is at the top in difficulty and challenge.

When people watch that video who've never flown one, .. they don't realize that when the copter is upside down and flying backwards, .... all the controls are flipped and reversed --- down is up, up is down etc.. It would only take a second for an advanced flyer trying that for the first time to instantly fly it into the ground by pushing up instead of yanking back --- it's just instinct, but the practice requires mastery in anti-instinct flying. That dude is in a class by himself.

Wow very impressive RC helicopter flying skills. I tried RC helicopters and planes when i were a kid (my father had several) and helicopter was always the most difficult one to fly.

Having done sound design for the better part of my life I can tell you that if that was fake, it would be the single greatest achievement in sound design in the history of man, and whoever was responsible would be on the cover of every sound production and mix magazine on the planet.

wow, it got caught in that metal netting. We get to see pilots make everything look easy and forget how dangerous it can be. Funny thing is, I always thought helicopters were easier to fly than airplanes ... something about landing an airplane (a large object at high speeds trying to touch ground and do it just so at a grazing angle... ) to my eyes it takes more coordination and precision than maneuvering a helicopter.

For anyone who's ever held a ten speed rim by the axle and spun it in his hands has a glimpse of the relentless and merciless nature of centrifical forces. And then to imagine flying such thing based on that principal would only seem unnatural and frankly, ..insane. There is no auto-pilot in a helicopter.
