I am seriously considering going down the route of freelancing.
How did all you freelancing types build your client base up.
Anyone got a business plan they could share with me, either on here or PM?
I look forward to any replies.

Simple....
Be sure that everyone knows that you start a new business, have a nice and informative site so that someone can see and -most important- understand what you can do....
Also, ask for support from all your family, friends etc.... They can be a very nice opportunity for advertisement...
Advertising too much is not always good...the clients think you are expensive because of the cost of advertising.
I have to tell you that luck is very important too

Are you going to work with archviz or productviz or both of them or something else ? from what i understand there seems to be a big demand in archviz people. Those i know of they have lots of work and they earn pretty well doing it.
You will ofcourse have more freedom to pick the jobs you want when you freelance and to pick which clients you wanna work for, and that's a good thing. But as always is when you freelance you need to get yourself known and to stand out from the rest. You need to be talented to have something to offer that they cannot get elsewhere or in Asia for half the price or less.
And it's difficult to live on freelancing alone, i can't quite see how some people can do that to be honest. The archvizzers usually earn nice cash so they can most likely live on it, but for normal freelancers i'm not so sure...
Perhaps i'm not the best to say anything about freelancing work because my business been so bad i been thinking about quitting it altogether and go back to standard jobs like janitor and grocerystore kinda jobs instead, there you atleast have a guaranteed monthly income.
Good luck with it and i hope you will get many clients and jobs d7. It's a very competitive 3d world out there.

I know it's a cliche, but
you're only as good as your last job.
If your work is of a high standard you'll get referals, plus the clients you do have will hopefully return for more.
Good luck with it, hope you hit the ground running.

Not in Greece...
You will ofcourse have more freedom to pick the jobs you want when you freelance and to pick which clients you wanna work for,
This is a luxury I never had.... I take every job even if I have to work for 20 hours per day.

Thank you for your comments. I am probably going to start freelance whilst working full time, and slowly work my way into it. Working through the night is nothing new to me.
I am willing to render anything really. They joy is the image result and quality, not so much the subject matter.
Architecture, product design anything.
I am starting a business plan. No Gung Ho jumping in the deep end. I have worked in the Architecture industry for some time. I have a few contacts here and there.
