My boss wants to know what computer specs. would be for a good rendering computer, he doesn't want to spend a lot for it, so i'd would like to keep the price close to $1,000 (us).
any and all suggestions please

Hmm, that's € 684,275.

I'm fairly confident that's not nearly enough cash for a decent computer. To give you an idea: mine cost, without the render software etc, little less than € 6000 ($ 8.768,4).

No, I haven't got that kind of cash myself. My employer paid for the bulk of the hardware (I only bought extra RAM -and software, of course).

a HP Pavilion Q6600 if you need something already built:

You won't get 8-cores on your budget, so I reckon a q6600 is the next best thing.

I realize that. Still, $ 1000 (or even $ 1500) won't cut it, AFAIK.

EDIT: maybe two of them quads?

sorry, my boss is also looking for a computer to be assembled, so i just need the pieces (Hardware) that would be best with in a budget.

I know the joke is cliché, ..but the evolution of technology is amazing.

And I bet that at the time you couldn't touch it for a grand.

Well, .. at least in the US, ..the standardized way it's normally written is $ xxx.xx.

And I'm with Mike, ....... it looks very very strange written the other way.
