i have a back plate for a matte painting and i roughly know where the image was taken. (runyon canyon peak @ L.A.)

now i need a google map or something similar with a good quality. i`ve heard that there are software packages around that automatically stitch the fully zoomed images for a larger region.

has anyone done this before ?

..if you get it to work...

*edit

not yet for textures, but you get much more terrain than via sketchup at once.
