Hrm...it doesn't look all that great to me. Sure, it's a nice rendering no doubt about it, but it's just not realistic looking to me?

Seems like there are alot of indirect shadows that should be in there that are missing.

It's free, right?
My favorit app!!!
You will find some of my posts in M~W forums saying that some features should exist in Maxwell too, but not many of maxwell users seem to like it...It is a new program, free, so the gallery is not as good as Maxwell's. Try with one of your models, and compare the results and the time needed... You have more than 10 different ways to render something... Alpha channel is created in seconds so even if you forgot it, there is no problem... Quick previews with simple raytracing, good results with photon mapping, Great results with Bidirectional path tracing and MLT...

I use it all the time now...The results are great, at least for the customers eyes... This is all I want!
Now, I use Maxwell only when I have to, for small projects I only use Kerkythea!
Try the instance brush, it is great!
I am also very proud to say that this app is created by a Greek programmer, Giannis Pantazopoulos....

Maxwell gives the best results, but when the client changes the model 4-5 times, it is too difficult to use it....

All you need is one strong machine...that´s it!

Surprising what you can get for free. KT comes with a lot of extras. Check their dl section.

Indigo's another good free one. No MultiLight (and no Mac version), but it delivers good results. SU+Indigo:

I've always wondered how developers like these keep afloat. Financially, I mean.

Indigo is really nice, there is also Sunflow if I remember correctly and Luxrender.....

No, you need 2-3 strong machines.... at least.... There are some projects that you can never be sure how long it will take to clear the scene, especially interiors with reflective mats....

I prefer to have a lower quality there, and with Kerkythea, I can do this (change rendering method) while with Maxwell it is not possible... You have probably seen some projects here that don't give a clear image even after 70 hours... This is not acceptable for my deadlines schedule.
I know that we have discussed this many times in Maxwell forums but it is not solved yet....

Also some things like water, dielectric materials, very reflective materials, can render faster in Kerkythea (KT) and the result is very good!
For example my last project, has 3 pools that I have to show at night (lights inside the water, impossible with Maxwell.... only some fake workarounds).... With Kerkythea, I got some good results.

KT has also .obj and .3ds import so nothing changes...
The material editor is fast (too many clicks...) and the preview is fast too.
There is a great fan club (forums) who helps a lot.
