Boxx Render question

I am to price a new machine or Render box for work.
Should I go Boxx system or go for a multi core pc. Looking for more than just a quad core!
How many Cores can you put in a single machine?
As always my company are looking for the cheapest option to get the best results!

Cheapest option ? then ditch the idea about a Boxx machine
it's far from cheap.
Build your own rig from custom handpicked components, then you can match everything up better and get the config you want for work for far less cash than you would have to cough up for a Boxx.

I've just ead the Ivox3 thread below. I am too stupid to choose all my own parts. I guess the IT boffins here will have to do all that for me.
It took all my mental power to piece together My Quad core beast at home.
My company still doesn't see the advantage to spending big in this department??? It's very frustrating, the lack of forward thinking I am subject to is mind boggling.
My machine at work is years old.
It will cost a fortune to repair the old steam powered Babbage processors it currently runs on. Still, it will free up about 300 square foot of office space it now takes up though!
