Hi there,

today I received spam from the maxwellianart website or at least the sender adress says so. How can I find out who sent it?

If this is going on this is a reason to delete the one picture I ever uploaded there.

something about poker and casinos.....

Can someone please screen the comments made there for ads and spam? Thank you.

I know NL has nothing to do with this site, but I do know that the mastermind behind this page is here, normally.

You cant find out who sent it, and its probably sent by a spam-bot.

If you use old programmed scripts and code when creating a site like this, you'll get problems with spam on your site: http://www.maxwellianart.com/cats.php?cat=&img=353

Also the email adresses of registrated users are easely sniffed up by spybots.

I never write my email-adress in text anywhere. (the emailadress I want to have free from spam)

the owner of the site should add word/letter verification to stop the spambots, something like this:

Hi,

I'm sorry for the problems you have been experiencing with the Maxwellianart website. Even though Next Limit is not involved in that website and doesn't have anything to do with it, we are looking into this and we have contacted the person in charge of it. Let's hope this issue can be solved because there are so many nice images posted there!

Cheers,

Nicole

Perhaps it´s good spam, if this is a genuine good spam they´ll stop their hacking friends from promoting them to much.

I *was* the hoster of this site. I provided the space for people to post their work. Mihai was the "administrator" of the site. It was Mihai, with Next Limits "blessing" to add the Next Limit logo to the site. The question of spam had been raised in the past; the response (from Mihai) was to simply not submit your email but add it to the the image.

So as to not confuse users that the site had anything to do with Next Limit (other than provide a completly free place with no pop-ups, ads, time-outs, size limits, etc. etc. like so many other "image shack"places) I have simply taken it down. Image shack and the other places that force you to wait for time-outs etc. are more suited for displaying ones images.

Good luck.
