Help with XP activation

Hi,

I have been using the same old XP OEM disk on every new system I buy, just formatting over the portuguese installation.

Now I just can't activate. Instead of the usual 30 day period I'm thrown to activation immediately at first boot. The system fails to generate an instalation ID. I have tried keys from systems that are running (all genuine software) and it's still not able to generate installation IDs.

Microsoft here in Brazil wont help me unless I use the Portuguese SP2 CD that ships with the computer, what is not an option.

Any hints?

TIA,

Ricardo

Yes, but you can switch the CD key. What I did was to change the CD key to an old one to check if the problem was with that new CD key. But it wasn't, the activation key was not generated.

This was done with the computer disconnected from the internet, so it wouldn't get activated (second machine with same serial#) by mistake.

Formatted it another couple of times and aways the same thing...

I got it, don't know if it's a bug or a bomb in my CD, but I set the date to 2006 and it works.
