Did I miss step in the evolution of human flight flight? I was waiting for decent rocket suit to pop up in Wired magazine or something and then out of nowhere, I get this....

Yeah its all good until death. Every time i watch one of these videos it ends with... 'Mike lost his life in late April 2006 etc bla bla'. In fact the only extremist I know that seems to have nine lives is Leo Houlding. He's probably used 8 of them already though.

Hold up ....... I post a link awhile back where guys are doing this off 5000 ft. cliffs up in Baffin Island(4 or 5 guys and one with a bat suit) and everyone thumbs their nose at it ..... and now it's nothing but oooohs and aaaahs ...
Admittedly though, .. that's some ultra cool footage.
Daniel, .. if you can find that video ( which is mysteriously gone from the WWW), .. you'd love it ..... Red Bull Team at Baffin Island. At those heights, .. they don't even need the suit, .. they just start tracking(30 second free falls), Flying ! Unreal.
I believe the french guy is the same guy with the Red Bull Base jumpers ...

but it didnt look like they were using wing suits. There is definitely something different about seeing people flying horizontally with some control only a few feet from the rocks!
Regrading death: jumping off a cliff or out of an airplane is completely safe. Its the sudden stop that can kill you.
