Just wanted to get your feedback on what you have and if you are happy

500 gb is about what I need right now ...

200 bucks is about what i would like to spend maybe a little more

your opinions wanted :)

is there any speed advantages of getting a network hard drive...??

even though i don't have a network at teh moment i will in a couple of months so this may be a benefit

I have 2 LaCie here.. no problem.. and I think it fits in your budget..

I'm sure they're cheaper in US..

Not up to date with HDs martgreg, sorry.

Afaik no drive reaches the read/write speeds of S-ATA, so you probably wouldn't see any difference when using another interface. Big Cache helps, and i think pretty much all prosumer drives come with 16MB by now.

I use Samsung drives, quite happy with them. Pretty silent ones.

Except it was USB2.

They own Maxtor now as well.. do you know if it would matter to buy a Seagate that is basically a Maxtor?

I wouldn't recommend Western Digital btw, friends of mine have had way too many problems with those (=harddrive failures).
