On a positive note, we produce almost the same amount of bikes as there are births, so everybody gets a bike!

Its biased, ..... we could also have a world clock on:
People going into cancer remission
Seatbelts that saved lives
People living over 100
Animals leaving the endangered list
New jobs created with alternative/green technologies
De-comissioned nuclear weapons
Retrieved guns in buyback programs
populations moving from third world conditions
New species discovered
etc..
etc..
etc..
But no, .. we have the 'dark side' world clock, .. because humans just have to err on the side of lack, ..on the side of fear, ..on the side of negativity, ...on the side of doom.
Snap out of it already .......! .......sheesh.

By becoming extinct?
The clock isn't biased, the collected data it has access to is. I guess we tend to make statistics for things that can have a negative impact on our lives, in part because this makes it sound less threatening......"it's just another statistic".
