Software applications will need to be modified to take advantage of the FireStream's architecture, and AMD will release a software developer kit along with the chip package for application tuning.
I expect NL to get on this immediately! 8)

But it's the same issue as with any other specialized co-processor solution. It's not a tech issue but an organizational one. Is it worth it for a company to develop and maintain a specialized version of their application that can take advantage of it? How many of their customers would use this thing? You can't know until you develop it, and you can't risk developing it because you don't know what the interest would be...

Just buy a few Octo Mac Pros and network them, you will have all the render power you need for Maxwell Render.

i think stream processing will become a standart and if it is possible for nl to use this technologie (with this speed) it would be the best thing they can do to cut the rendertimes. and if it "only" speeds up the sys 10-20x - i would buy it tomorrow for 2000€! how many octo macs can you buy for this money? and look at the noise they generate and the power consumption...
PLEASE NL, if it is possible... do it! :D

This is exactly what NL needs to get back into the game, let's face it Maxwell is the slowest engine on the market it needs a relatively cheep solution to its speed problems and this could be it.

I've gone from using Maxwell 90% of the time to about 10% of the time since I got Vray. I simply can't justify render times of 24+ hours any longer no matter how good it looks and how quick it is to set up. In the end Vray has speed on it's side, to get the equivalent speed in Maxwell I'd need a render farm of 200 PC's and a budget in the millions.
