Hi all,

(Although, I have posted this before, some may have missed it).
The screen savers listed in this site are indeed some of *the* highest quality visuals I have seen in a while on a saver.

Site: http://www.reallyslick.com/downloads.html

Two of the best savers in the bandle are:
1. SolarWinds
2. Euphoria
3. Hyperspace

These savers are OpenGL intensive and they will put your card to its paces. As a matter of fact I use the Euphoria saver as a benchmark to test the quality either of a video card or its drivers.
For instance, try the following:
  1. Place the Euphoria.scr in your winnt-->System32 directory to install it (this is for win2k, so it may be different inyour OS)
  2. Right-click on your desktop and select properties-->screen saver
  3. Select the Euphoria saver
  4. Go to settings
  5. Select the "Nowhere" default
  6. Select texture=Random
  7. Make sure feedback texture size=1024
  8. Press ok to exit this screen and then press preview
Now while the saver is playing (on a win2k system) you can press the 's' key to display the FPS you are getting out of your card.

For instance, when I have the "FeedbackTextureSize=1024" my card is giving me only 8.9 fps

Alternatively, you can install the "Hyperspace" saver with the following settings:
Speed=10
NumberOfStars=8000
SizeOfStars=40
ResolutionOfGeometry=20
ViewDepth=10
FieldOfView=65

With these settings I get an fps of 3.9 :P

What fps do you get ? (what card do you use ?)

Thanks for setting all this up Thomas .... Made it easy ....... ;)

Okay, ... so on a simple 7600GS the fps ranges from 39-57 fps ..

I'll try it on my 7950GT KO to ....

I'll bet the 8800's will be cruising .........

Very good Chris :)

Also, if you want, try the "Hyperspace" with settings as illustrated in the post earlier (updated).

I get a 3.9 8)

That one's beautiful ........, ...also digging Helios. ;)

I did around a 20fps on that one, .. probably because I'm running Ad-Aware, Spybot, Regscrup XP, Xosoft amd AVG_Anti-Spy all simultaneously ..... lol...

I also appreciate that these SS'ers seem to all overlay on both monitors, .. which up until now, .. I've never seen. ....so that's very cool.

I tell ya, .. one of the best screen savers(if not the best) I've ever seen was packaged with an old ATI card(9100), .. it was called ATI Tubes, ........ UNREAL. ..any chance you've ever seen it ?

wierd... Euphoria is giving me 60 fps, but trying hyperspace gives
only 3.5 fps. This is with my home pc - 8800 gtx.

Nice to test graphic card with this oldschool stuff. :D

Anybody get these to work with Vista? I put them with the other .scr files but they don't show up in my list on the screensavers tab.
