Indigo is very promising too but I know one thing... You can't ask too much from free software developers... It is ready when it's ready

I also know one thing about free unbiased renderers. It's ussualy a work of a single guy who works on the core and they tend to bring much more features in a much shorter time. Feature-wise they're above maxwell at the moment and the only thing they're missing is plugins with good gui. Comparing them to NL is a very unlucky thing to do

I'm curious of the state of some other renderers : Dali, Hungry-Cat, Jotero-ray.

Hungry-Cat renderer probably starved to death a while back.. that's my guess.
Maybe Jotero knows more about Jotero-Ray
