So far nothing was as good as Photoshop but it seems like today is the day.

Maybe, but you can see that the UI is a complete copy of PSP

If you insist that, all of them (incl.Photoshop) copied it from Deluxe Paint (since 1985).

I tryed what I think it was a beta some months ago (or maybe a year ago) and it was buggy as hell. Now that it is 1.0 it will probably be great; let's try the demo.
EDIT: Well, it's still a beta: Beta 7 I think I before tryed number 6.

Much much better than gimp but it seems to be very slow and I already found some bugs. But I hope the days of the photoshop will be numbered soon.. 999$ is simply a complete thievery

It doesn't have Linux, nor Mac version and it's not 59 but 99.

Besides I bet it's not just 29 MB.
I am building a small Ubuntu workstation for sake of old Amiga days and I have Blender, Gimp, Scribus, Jahshaka and others working on it. (Ah, and dear Maxwell of course

)
There's no Photoshop equivalent on this platform, so I'm looking for a stable Pixel version.

No it is $59 for old customers ... and I was responding literally to "
So far nothing was as good as Photoshop" part

Then sorry, I am correcting the statement as: "So far nothing was as good as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro and other similar applications"

My explanation was referring to same idea. Many people keep working on Windows and with lots of Windows-oriented applications just because they don't have equivalent power and flexibility on Linux platform (with or without paying) but applications like Blender and Pixel (not free but reasonable) are very important for the future I guess. Today when Pixel becomes stable, I would pay for it even if Adobe were giving Photoshop for free, because I don't prefer an application abusing my hardware.

... I see. Then, yes, if you put in the context of *Linux* indeed the alternatives are limited in power with a few exceptions; such as GimpShop (and now Pixel looks promising too ! )

You know, Gimp is around for many years and it's very disappointing about 2 points:
- It seems like it's trying to be different than PS as much as it can and it's not welcome.
- It simply has no CMYK / HDR etc support which makes it look funny, not understandable.
About Pixel vs. PS and/or PSP, even on Windows why should I prefer a heavy application if Pixel catches the stability and performance, soon.

Yup !
Clean code, with frugal, minimal footprint without loosing much functionality is always preferable and ideal. (Even though the hard disk space these days is inexpensive, in the principle of the matter, bloat is bloat).
