My knowledges are really weak in such domain, but could it be possible to run this under Windows? And can maxwell be installed in this cluster? My last question, is it really interesting (price/power) compare with a solution base on Q6600?...just curious

It has 4 AMD dual core CPUs. A total of 8 cores.
Isn't that too much hassle for only 8 cores ?

A list of the worlds top 100 fastest supercomputers.

http://www.top500.org/list/2007/06/100

I'd like to see what task manager would look like on the first one. lol.
The full system has 65,536 dual-processor compute nodes

Pretty cool idea to build one of those at home :) but what if one of those motherboards of cpu's break down, then the rest of the machines are dead as i guess they can't function if one boards or chips goes down the drain.

But still the coolness factor is so high it outweights everything else :D

It is very important to know what the 10 fastest computers in the world are 'working' on. After all, some of them are individually worth many millions of dollars etc.

Last time I checked, about 8 out of 10 of them were simulating what happens to decaying nuclear warheads.

kind of alarming....

Exactly!! Even if it was shown a few years back it woudln't be "that" interesting. Putting a few hardware pieces together in a custom crappy rack.. but maybe in specific short time in the past this might have been an interesting thing to build but really only for a short period of time.

A single OCed Q6600 can beat this thing in less $ and W per Gflop
