You mean the continents as textures or actual vertices?

Take a shere, find a b/w continents texture (google helps), displace, bake displacement.

If it's any kind of space shot at all, don't use bump, displacement, or any height generation of any kind. That's not how the Earth looks from space and will immediately kill the photorealism - if that's your goal. You can do the whole thing with a couple of maps.

Mike is right. Diameter of earth is 12713.5 km and the highest bump is the mountain Everest which is only 8.8 km. If you really want to use bump, normal etc, it should be %0.06 in height comparing to size of your sphere which doesn't worth to keep the engine busy with this invisible detail.

i removed it myself !
somehow a silly number was in my head claiming to be the real height of the mount everest and i posted it without questioning it.
i have no idea where it came from !

Hey guys thanks for your help...

I am looking for a 3d model of the earth.

I am looking for the continents as actual geometry/vertices (not textures).

Thanks,

napz
