Hacked firmware for Canon compact cameras

This is one excellent hack for Canon A610, A620, A630, A640, A710, S3 IS. All you need to do is
download the the firmware to your SD card, then go into your camera's menu where you can select "Update Firmware'. The original firmware is not touched and everything is back to normal when you delete the firmware from your card.
The best thing really is the scripting feature, stuff like bracketing and time lapse photography are now available on these cheap cameras!!

Q. What does the HDK firmware do?
A. After loading of HDK firmware you can get the following functionality:
* Shooting in RAW
* Live histogram (RGB, blended, luminance and for each RGB channel)
* Zebra mode (blinking highlights and shadows)
* DOF-calculator
* Battery indicator
* Scripts execution (exposure/focus/... bracketing, intervalometer and more)
* File browser
* Text reader
* Calendar
* Some fun tools and games

I don't have that camera, but the timelapse is nice! I might try that myself, too. I especially love the powerline-splitter function

I love using hacked firmware on anything, especially mobile phones. So what that you loose waranty
the manufacturer should have put in a much better software

Thanks man. I will definetly try this on my SI, lust just hope that the frimware only stays in the SD card like you say.

Ivox, the interval between each pic is 24s. I'm hoping to get hold of the filter adapter soon, and get a Neutral Density filter so that I can have longer exposures (these were shot at 1/1500!) and hopefully get stuff like the trees blurred and not as choppy.
Hybaj, insomnia3d: I think warranty is not affected, although I'm not gonna take any responsibility if it is!
I think from this new firmware it is quite evident that consumer products are just dumbed down to artificially keep prices up for the pro stuff.

It's interesting, how fast do the cameras with this firmware save RAW files?
and i wouldn't mind to have time lapse photography in my 30D!

nice find...I have a canon 300d digital SLR and just found a hack of my firmware that unlocks it to a canon 10d
