Particularly when:

A. They're a big [250+ people] design Co. and they only have one XP loaded machine amongst them.

B. Their server and corporate firewall won't allow uploads [or downloads] of more than 80mb a time, and they can't read from an ftp site because their I.T policy is not to install effective ftp applets on design-staff computers.

C. You deliver their finished 4+min animation [as-briefed] five days ago, yet today [the day of the big meeting] you get requests for changes to 3 big parts of the animation......oh, and could one have that today please?..........LMAO

D. Every Mac the client has can't read a quicktime file if it requires a QT version newer than v4.0.

.......All of which has been happening here..........I have returned to the Stone Age.

 hehe you guys are funny. :)

...Even cash cows need milking!

[It's ok if they're hooked up to a modern 'mechanised' dairy farm [wow, all those clients hooked up and.......we'll, we can only dream.......] it's the old 'stool and bucket' more often than not I'm afraid.

Wow hehe, they must been the clients from hell  ..last second changes, and not small changes either, that's just plain crazy. They probably think like "oh he just pushes a button and changes the entire animation in an instant so it won't cost us a dime". :D

No wonder you got no sleep lately heh..

Oh I forgot to mention, since completion I've begun two new anim jobs for the All Energy Conference '07 which is open 22nd May.......didn't need that last job to boomerang!!
.
........but one of these energy guys:
"we'd ideally like about 2mins animation, done inside about a week.......we've got a nice budget of around 500 quid to spend"

I told them that "for that, you can have a nice revolving wireframe box on a blue/black background.......for 2mins if required".

They're now going for two brochure shots and a PC walpaper jpg.

CLIENT FROM HELL 3
we have a client/project (architecture, not rendering) at the office that it's older than dust!
I have been working in this office for two years and the project dates back since 2003.... wait, did I mention the whole project it's a "courtyard renovation" (we just need to realign some planters and determine the materials/styles of the new pavers)

It's for a country club that is composed of a senior citizens -golfers committee that can't makeup their mind.

in the last two weeks, they started bugging about the courtyard again... (This is not the first time that I had to work on the courtyard btw) I end up making 7 different schemes!!! BTW they always want the changes the same day because they are in such a hurry!!

What really piss me off, was yesterday when I did an additional three different schemes (they want different pavers patterns) and then they called me during the conference...

One of the guys was telling me about all this changes that made no sense... he was telling me about things that were already fixed in the plan that I sent them :? Well, once he sent me thru fax the changes I notice that the drawing that he was looking at dates back to 2004!!!!!! WTF!!!!

So I did a little bit of detective work and started looking at older files to see if I could find the one that the guy was referring to. In that way, I would have less work to do.

What I found out is that since 2003, there has been 67 different schemes (not including mine) done to the stupid courtyard

To top it off another guy called with more changes, telling me that the other guys at the committee didn't know what was best for the courtyard. Then I got a call telling me to please don't listen to that "other" guy, because he is out of his mind

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA ! ..... beautiful.

There should be a single website where all new clients can be directed to that demonstrates a quick, but comprehensive view of what exactly happens behind the scenes of any CG work -- be it stills or animations.

...and it should be made a pre-requisitie viewing before any work can begin, ..or simply we have no deal. :P

So true, i had no idea clients can be so unappreciating of this work/art.

I believe it's just a general ignorance of the work and a mini-education is really paramount to prevent impossible situations.

Hey, .. we love the new animation, ...but could you make new furniture using a different fabric design ? ...also, ..is it possible to extend the time from 1min. to 5min? We didn't have time to prepare a verbal presentation, so we thought that we'd just let the animation do most of the talking. Thanks so much!
FYI: The presentation has been rescheduled for the day after tomorrow, ..an extra day has been given for the extra work.

regards,
The Client.

PS. We really love that it looks so real !!!
