morning...

are 4 GB ddr2 667 or such available ?
are they worth their price or simply terribly overpriced ?

i'm thinking about selling my 4 gigs and buy 8, problem: my mobo has only 4 slots, so i'll have to stick either to 2 GB sticks or maybe 4 GB pieces...

any hints on that decision ?

thx... !

Yes, there are a couple of ddr2 667 4GB DIMMSavailable (ECC fully registered 'server' memory), but they are pretty pricey (around US$ 1,300 each).

You can also get a pair of 4 GB Dual channel DIMMS that run around $2600

Newegg.com has a pretty decent search feature and is always my first stop when looking for specific hardware....

However, if you are willing to spend that much, you should first determine if your MB can handle that size (if you haven't already).....

data:
Intel 975XBX2KR (Bad Axe 2), ATX, i975X, PCI Express, DDR2
Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5, 2x1GB, DDR2-1067, CL5 (Total 4 GB)

after googling a little, the max is set to 8 GB for this MoBo .

so i guess, the decision is against 4 GB sticks... well, would have been cool to be able to put in 16 gigs... :wink:

* * *

i hope these prices drop SOON ! it's horrible how much ram costs again ...

thanks for the feedback !

I would check the "tested memory list" (or something like that) at Intel's site to see which kind of memory actually works. Maybe something else than listed is working but it's better if it's there.
