Hello Hervé,
We own a Nikon D200 here, and we are very happy with it. the captor is perfect & make great results.
Nikon & Canon are both great brands with great product,s the main difference is the way the settings are, so if you have any experience with one or the other, maybe better the keep the same brand.
We're not pro photographes here, but this is some stuffs we made with it. 3 photos photoshoped for cadre & texte, nothing else, not even a level

1panoramic, 10photos, manually joint in PS (best way so far)
i hope you'll find the good one for you

Real Madrid or Barcelona???
I have a Nikon, don't know why I chose the first one, 10 years ago, but now I'm loaded with 5 different sets of lenses and won't even look for a reason to change my mind

We (pro photographers) use the Canon 5D and 20D... and definitely prefer the camera, image quality, and lens quality over Nikon (we had a 100D and were very disappointedI).
Have a good look at
http://www.luminous-landscape.com for some excellent reviews of cameras, lenses, and many other things photographic.

Hervé, the camera bodies these days aren't that important, they all have about the same qualities, and some features you need to decide for your self which would be more useful for the things you want to do. The important thing is the lens, and I think Canon has a larger variety of lenses and perhaps also better quality than Nikons offer. From Canon you have the "L" series lenses which are expensive but are usually great quality. You can look at some user lens reviews starting at fredmiranda.com and then search for more indepth reviews on the web.

Mihai... I beg to differ... a significant component of the camera body is the sensor that records the image... Canon has produced a superb image sensor in the 5D (full frame) and the smaller one found in cameras such as the 20D, 30D, and Rebel models is also very good.
I agree with the comments re. the quality of Canon glass...

cool subject... really thank you all for helping too choose....
OK, so far with your answers, I am in favour for Canon..
I do agree with you both Mihai and MRCharles.. in fact these both play an important part.. the sensor & the lens..
THXraph, these pictures are nice.. the low light situation is pretty good handled..
Ricardo, sure if I had many lenses, I'd knew which one to go..
I think the 5D Canon looks pretty good..
BTW, nobody commented on the Leica... looks vintage, but damn cool..
OKEyyyy, thanks all for your answers..(really appreciate) now I know..
Maxwell is a mega upper cool community.. really !!!

Well, this is a non professional pov, but I've got the Canon eos 350D, very pleased with it, and the Leica D-Lux 3, and the Leica, beyond looking *really* cool has been giving *really* impressive results. Repeat, not professional level stuff, but Leica puts out some great stuff...

Nikon I'd say... difficult one...
btw, I am not too impressed with the Leica image from the >Leica site for the D-Lux3... strange... maybe too much compression...
DL the vegetables picture and tell me....

Well, with Leica you pay extra bucks for the brandname and for the "style"
i'll say stick with Nikon or Canon.
in my last job we had Nikon D1X (there is already D2X).
and I enjoyed working with it, my work invovled sailling in ships.
so it had to be a strong body camera.
i worked with it for 3 years and i didn't have any problems and the results were great. no salty water and no ship's obsitacles made it a damage.
but it was a 5000$ camera...how much money do you want to spend?
