I live in Canada, and we went to a guy fawkes party in the country last night - about 60 people, a very large bonfire and lots of fireworks.
Because this is North America you need a permit for everything - so the party hosts had a permit for the bonfire, yet a neighboring farm saw the flames and called the fire department - three fire trucks showed up. Even though there was a permit the fire department somehow felt obligated to justify their existance by putting out the bonfire in front of all the guests etc.
My 5 yr. old was pretty traumitized by the whole thing!
The party was still fun - but geez.... what kind of world do I live in? Help!!!!!!!!
