Hi!!

Just a reminder and a info for newjoiners. (Tom...maybe make this a sticky?. We promise not to stop using this forum )

I just recently joined this channel and I must say that for everyday questions it unbeatable. I keep it at the back and when I'm waiting for a render preview I drop in and participate for a moment, it's quite addictive.
BUT in order to be to use to anyone you have to participate , yes it's true we want YOU to be apart too...
This has so much potential and is so easy to use....

Here's a guide for newbies.

1. Download and install the Firefox add-on ChatZilla at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/recommended/ ( I just take for granted that you're using Firefox as your default browser)
as an alternative use mirc which is a stand-alone application. www.mirc.com/get.html
2. After installing the add-on start it under Tools>ChatZilla
3. Click the button in the lower left and select Change Nick... to set your preffered nick
4. Type /server irc.worldirc.org hit return and wait for it to connect.
5. Type /join #maxwell

Congratulations...you're now apart of a friendly group of people with similar interests. Get in there and get your hands dirty

As one last tip: Click and drag the text at the top of the window where it says irc://irc.worldirc.org/maxwell to the favorites toolbar. There now you have a quicklink to the channel...

We had problems with inactivity (no users) there for a long time so i shut it down a couple of months ago. But if we will have some active users there i'd be happy to return to the channel and help keep it up and running.

hm, I always get this error after connecting to the server and typing :/join #maxwell

hm could our serverfirewall be a problem,...

Odd problem jurx, can you see me in the channel or isn't it even connecting you to the network and channel ?

It could be that you logged in on a problematic server when you tried, try again and see if you still get the same error or if you're able to login.

More info could possibly be found here if you tried a different chat client such as mIRC.

hmmm....no success.
looks like a firewall problem
after reconnecting, now there is no connection to /server irc.worldirc.org

Yes it gotta be the firewall then if you can try opening the ports required and then come and join us.

And to anyone else reading this thread, please come and join us in the channel. The more people we are the merrier it will be.

I am trying to use the mirc631 but it looks kind of complicate to setup and connect. can some one guide me through with the setting up?

there is no problem from my home office, so it was a firewall problem...so I am online right now...but there is nobody,....hopefully there will be more visitors soon...

I have reopened the #Maxwell IRC channel today, but from now on it's running on EFnet instead of where it was in the past. If you would like to join and chitchat about whatever you want then the channel is open, everyone are welcome!
