I remember year ago, we were speaking about the power of the ps3 and that it will be a great machine to used with maxwellrender.
Today i read that yellow dog linux can be installed on the ps3...so my question is: Can it be a good deal...power/price? and can maxwellrender used all the power of the ps3?

Hee hee, here we go again.

I ran Linux on the PS2, with a Blender PS2 port, with the hope of using the graphics chips for real time rendering.

Well no chance of this ever working, unless the application is specifically optimised to run on Linux on the PS3.

You can check on my pains and progress in this thread here:- http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthr ... hlight=PS2

So the theory is yes, but Next Limit would need to code Maxwell specifically for the new GPU & PS3 mainbrain.

I'm all for it, but only if it can work. I'm not going to be the guinea pig this time round.

Do you want one? They are readily available in the US. Good games not so much.

Silly thing...
Who needs a game console, that is merely a game console these days?

I got a PS3

My wife wanted a game console... I wanted a big tv! :D

So I figure... hmmm blue -ray :P

Ubuntu runs great in it... but with 256mb of ram, I'm not installing Maxwell for now
