Good idea to share both tutorials and models you made like this Dave

and when it comes to selfpromotion, giving stuff away for free is always a excellent idea.
Nice initiative, it looks good so far.

lol hardly self promotion is it. more like sharing models with the community. i was going to sell stuff on turbo squid but cant be bothered with all the forms and this way is better for users. i can think of more things to self promote myself than making hard work sorting out models to give away

never mind people can use or not and think what they like. someone will get a use from them ( and as i get emails and msns every week asking for models this saves them asking )

Hehe ok

but you do know it works as selfpromotion even if you call it something else. Your work/models etc gets publicly downloadable and then people can see how you produce stuff and so on.. That in itself is free advertising and exposure

anyways.. keep posting more stuff which we all can see and use.
Cheers!

my clients will not hire me because i give away models for free. the only people that will benifit from this is people that need models quick.
i have over 8yrs worth of models that would be of use to someone, how else am i to share them with them. so i will call it like it is and it is not a self promotional event.
anyway people can think what the like, but im the only one that knows why i have done this ( you dont need to reply to this as i dont want this turning into another debate that is not needed )

Hi dd,
I tried opening the obj of the spotlight in both modo and in solidworks and it opens with errors - probably some translation problem between c4d and these programs? It shows missing faces in one and a bunch of polygons with errant vertices pulling them down to the corner in the other?

Thanks dd,
The 3ds wont open in modo and the dxf looks like this, some normals flipped but also there are overlaps etc. Not sure why this is happening?
