What's the best way to get MAYA 8 objects into MAX 8??

I have a project where I have to take MAYA 8 fbx files into MAX 8. What is the best way to do that and should I look out for anything? Will the textures automatically come in or do I have to have them as image files like MAX materials?? Please advise.

Importing the FBX file into 3dsmax should work fine, perhaps you have to do some extra tweaking and adjustments but it shouldn't be too much. Textures should also be imported.

Maybe this helps.. if you have trouble importing the FBX files.

Thanks Max - That was invaluable advice. I was getting an error when importing initially and then I went to that link and downloaded the latest plugin and it worked a charm!! U R Brilliant!

All the components came in exploded over the same pivot point, 0,0,0, which is fine. I could probably tweak to get it to come in better but I am ecstatic to get it to come in at all and the images are loaded and everything! Again Brilliant! Thanks again.
