Is there a big difference between a HD (EIDE, for laptop) turning at 5400 and one turning at 7200 RPM?

for a laptop i'd go for a 5400er - because of the heat.
the faster the hotter ... (argl - joke coming up) ...

I swapped out the 5400 RPM harddrive on my wifes old ibook with a 7200 and it was like getting a new computer. Big difference... though it that case it was also 4 years newer so it was also quieter, used less power, and had a bigger cache.
