morning.

i just enjoyed a nice list with components for a 64 bit cheapo slave for me to buy, but then i heard about a test that has been run by a large pc magazine: that five new mainboards that support the core 2 duo processor couldn't address all 4 gigs. the better ones 3.3 GB, the worse 3 GB.

i'd use the intel core 2 duo E6600 with the asus p5b-vm.
which board can address all the ram AND more than 3 gigs per app ?

What magazine did that test? People are using their 8GB Opteron systems to the fullest since 2+ years, so it's not like this never worked before.

that was the c't, a german mag...

they ran tests with xp64...

i was quite astounded too, that's why i ask...

I run a Tyan board with 4GB of RAM with 2 OPteron 244 single cores and can peak my memory out at 4GB.

a guy on an other forum said he had the same problem with accessing only 3.3 gigs with his new computer. he fixed it by only updating the bios with the newest driver from the mobo-homepage...

it's a weird world... !
