Is this the end?

Are we at the point where Maxwell is a good as it's going to get? Seems pretty quiet. Anybody know anything about the next "phase". Just wondering out loud.

Vray took a few years to go from 1.4 to 1.5.
Brazil has been quiet for years too.

It has been only a couple of months with Maxwell 1.1 and we already panic ?

IMHO, they should keep as quiet as possible and release something only when they are ready. No timelines. No promises. No crystal balls.

I think Next Limit can do better than that.

What happened to Brazil anyway? Doesn't seem to have gathered much popularity, or?

I hope so...
But I would like to add that Vray 1.4 was a complete app with almost no limitations. 1.4 -> 1.5 means improvements.
Maxwell 1.0 ->1.1 -> 1.2 means adding features (some disabled from NL).
I mean that Maxwell 1.1 is not as complete as Vray 1.4, so it seems logical to ask for dates.

over at blur they use brazil, and it's been used in production on some big stuff (neil blevins did some background plates for the incredibles, there's a bit of brazil in the day after tomorrow for example). but I guess that being a very big chunk of the max userbase into archviz, vray was more like the right choice. and it had a much more convenient licensing policy, as it still has.
brazil customers have been working with a beta of version 2.0 for some time now though, so it seems things are moving there as well. the fishes don't talk too much about it, it's more like "it's ready when it's ready" if you ask them.

We see emails to techdesk immediately, and can usually respond quicker than to a post in the forum. If your question is a specific technical issue, send it to our techdesk as well as the forum.

Plug-ins are very important to us right now. In the past we developed many plug-ins so Maxwell can be used with most of the main 3D packages. We are now working on improving these.

I have fowarded your issues to the Sketchup developers to address. Right now there are a couple of issues in the Sketchup sdk that make it difficult for us to create a perfect connection with the Maxwell plugin but we are working to fix it.

I hope your problems find solutions and you continue to use Maxwell.

Best regards,

Juan
We should be seeing an update anytime (Anytime in 2008  )

speaking of brazil, I've just seen these v 2.0 beta images posted over at the splutterfish forums:

http://forums.splutterfish.com/viewtopic.php?t=7002

poster is a support staff member, so it seems the fishes are letting something out at last. not really impressed by these ones though, but I bet they're saving the real goods for the official announcement.

I use Vray since approx. a half year and have seen many updates. Also Vlado post at the chaosgroup forum very often.
The Maxwell forum is good for off topic, but the rest ... . :?

I would like to see an update of the Rhino plugin. The old beta plugin was limited, but so easy to use. Now I'm not happy about it. :?

I would love to see an update for Studio, which does not bring anything new technically but only deals with workflow matters. There's a huge wishlist on things like:
- keyboard presets for users of the different modeling packages
- everything about appearance customization
- improved drag and drop for different channels
- switching Material layers on and off

There's much much more.

This is already there. In the material editor, just under the "File" there is the layer name and an orange dot. If you click on that dot it turns the layer off.
