Speaking of Phobias, ...Windows Media Player 11(beta)

You might want to have a phobia of that ......

First off, ...It's buggy ....at least for me, ...many system freezes.

Secondly, If you want to roll back to MP10 .... read closely the release notes from the link. ;)
Protected content cannot play if Windows Media Player 10 is installed on a computer that already has Windows Media Player 11 installed
Content that is protected with media usage rights cannot be played in Windows Media Player 10 if a computer already has the Windows Media Format 11 Runtime installed (which is installed with Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP). In some situations, Windows Media Player 10 may quit unexpectedly when trying to play protected content and licenses for protected content might be lost.
Somewhat of a workaround can be found on the same page:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... px#1792680

Also: ...from what I can tell , ... besides some color changes, ...it's the freaking same.

...careful. I've already made the mistake. :(

The most important part is the "not deleting MP11 runtime" ...which I did .... :lol: ...before reading. ...doh.

I personally love vista and the new MP11.
It might not be the exact same thing as the ver11 that comes with XP though.

..that might have everything to do with it, ....running mp11 on xp Pro.

...dunno, ...figured I'd wait till it gets a final release.

btw: ...luden, I was going to get the iRiver, but I think this is better ? ...did you look at it too when deciding?

I've had no problems such as system freezes or anything.

And by the look of it... :)

I don't really know about to competitors but this thing seams to be pretty nifty too. Just go through some info about them all and you'll find out what fits you the best.

Or the iriver E10

vista is the quintessence of bu****it that microsoft can make. they should have they own word to say how it suxs, like : microsoftly, for the adjectif & microsoftliness for the name.

they own the market, so they dont need to make working product.

you cant trust them, you cant kill or segment them, just have to run your life with them, and i cant find words to say how deep it suxs!

may linux be with you

:idea: An operating system should use as less resources as it can.
:idea: An operating system shouldn't be like a game, there are 3rd party games instead.
:idea: An operating system should operate the system only, not the circus.

"Windows Circus" should be the correct name for Vista. It means, trying to make everyone happy at the same time but nobody in the end...

man vista is ugly!!!

i hope they still have a "classic" view. in the meanwhile osx looks more pro and less toylike than windows...

what a strange world.

the question coming to my mind since I first saw winXP interface is why? there's an obscure reason to use such a ugly design, esthetically and ergonomically speaking? :?

Motherboard/chipset makers ... in addition to making the Northbridge/Soughtbridge chipsets, ...should add a new one called the Winbridge chipset that's dedicated to the Win OS, so we can run our apps in peace! :P

It looks like with this RC they have put some features to mimic Google desktop and search.

Its not that bad, it just need a minimal theme style. Its more Mac like then anything else.

But, a OS should not require 2 gigs of ram at this time in technology. Nor should it require more than 2gigs of footprint space. Why?

I say they need some miminal artist (visualization and coders) to work with them to strip this thing down in terms of footprint and visual look.

The MAC works because of its minimal ethic. Its in everything from the design of the cases, to the marketing, to the OS.

Vista needs this desparately. While I welcome the new features, windows systems need it so much, but not at the cost of so much resources and a non-streamlined look and interface.

How much does OSX require?

Tiger OSX requires:

* Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 processor
* Built-in FireWire
* DVD drive for installation
* 256MB of RAM
* 3GB of available hard disk space (4GB if you install the developer tools)

The footprint is too much..why 3GB?

256MB *minimum* :wink:

My wife has an iMac with latest OSx on it. She only has 760mb of ram, but the ram is 3/4 empty all the time. The footprint is quite low.

... now if she runs any widgets in the backround, they start eating up the ram.
