Yup, just saw that on CGtalk, best character I've ever seen. The eyes are really alive in this one.

Oh my ......

Has someone finally brought some soul to the eyes of a CG character?

I would love to see her rigged/animated ....., but damn! ...that's some fine work. :)

This guy gets The Sour Grapes Award for 2006:
so realistic that it looks like a bad photo. not entirely sure on the artistic merit of achieving that.

What a phenominal work. 8)

What a terrible thing to say.....he must have no idea how much work went into that and the skill needed.

If I were to really nitpick, there is some typical grey shadow in the nose area , instead of being more the color of the skin. I think it's typical of current sss implementations, doesn't color too well the light reflected back from inside the skin.

I looked at his portfolio, and no, he doesn't seem to have any idea.

wow... look like a japanese girl who has done some chirurgy for her eyes!

BTW, it looks so real, she (yes, she:!) has a blade, soul, whatever you want, she is the most real 3d character i've ever seen, that make me feel i still have many things to learn

a masterclass over masterclasses

I think it's overall incredible but as usual in every CG human, ears fail. Up to date, I haven't had chance to see a convincing ear and still...

I actually think i've seen better or up to par renders, sorry i can't provide any links now. The modeling is great but the skin doesn't have highlights like one would expect, not even if she wore a layer of makeup. And the eyes, while good, still don't look "alive", if you look at them closely, isolating them from the whole, the cg shows yet again.

Adrian - it is CG. Damn good CG. And since when do you look at photos of pretty actresses one eyeball at a time?

And I think the skin texture is near perfect. Any more shine and people would be saying it looked like plastic. You know that you would.
