3D 4YOU frame-mount display for high impact user-interaction at information kiosks and in casino gaming

Berlin, Germany – Philips 3D Solutions is introducing a new 20-inch (51 cm) 3D 4YOU frame-mount display that is designed for integration into commercial applications, which will give the user an exciting personal 3D experience. Its out-of-screen performance in combination with touch screen capabilities makes this 20 inch Philips 3D 4YOU ideal for use in narrow casting or interactive applications such as point-of-sale, point-of-interest and casino gaming.

Based on Philips WOWvx technology, the 3D 4YOU display (20-3D2C01) allows an exciting 3D experience, providing sustainable 3D viewing without the need for special viewing glasses. The slanted lenticular lens offers full brightness, full contrast, and true color representation. Philips 3D 4YOU display has a 4:3 aspect ratio and can switch seamlessly between 2D and 3D mode.

Connected through a standard DVI interface to a PC, the 3D display can visualize software content that is based on existing graphics libraries such as OpenGL. Moreover, Plug-ins for popular 3D animation packages are available to export 3D animations into the “2D-plus-depth” 3D format. In addition to this, Philips 3D Solutions is realizing content creation tools for visualizing stereoscopic video content.

Earlier Philips introduced the award-winning 42 inch 3D WOW and 3D Comfort professional displays. The 20 inch 3D 4YOU display is now the third WOWvx based product from Philips that promises to help professionals create an amazing viewing experience with the latest technology to make content richer, more exciting, and more entertaining for the viewer so that it is almost ‘real’. WOWvx provides the latest innovation in technology to attract the consumer’s attention and is well positioned for use in digital signage, games, gambling and 3D visualization.

At IFA, the new Philips 20 inch 3D 4YOU display will be demonstrated for the first time in public at the Philips Electronics booth in Hall 22. At the booth, visitors can play 3D games or experience 3D animations and stereoscopic video.

Philips 20 inch 20-3D2C03 3D 4YOU display system is being sold through Philips 3D Solutions distribution channel from October 2006 onwards.
